Negotiation and Team Resources (NTR) supports the development and dissemination of materials to facilitate teaching negotiation, conflict management, and teamwork. Its mission is to promote learning in on-line and face-to-face environments. The materials NTR distributes have been developed, refined, and vetted by professors and consultants in classrooms and training programs around the world.

NTR was founded by Jeanne Brett, Stephen Goldberg and Holly Schroth to encourage scholars doing research and teaching in the areas of negotiation, conflict, dispute resolution and teams.

It is an introductory exercise that helps participants understand the importance of planning and preparation, as well as making first offers, understanding anchoring, identifying and using one’s BATNA, making principled concessions, and setting resistance and aspirations points. This exercise is best used at the beginning of a negotiation course or in a training workshop. Yerba Mate is based on a real negotiation with slightly altered facts and names, with the exception of facts concerning the products and mission of the Guayakí Company, which are used with permission. Amapola Hills

Amapola Hills Golf Course is a two-party exercise that I designed primarily to teach negotiators when to walk away from a deal. The exercise also addresses ethical behavior in negotiation, the significance of non-verbal behavioral cues, and the importance of asking good questions and listening for consistency and clarity in responses. The challenge of the exercise is that there is a wide bargaining zone for the monetary aspect of the deal, but there is no overlap in interests. Both sides have strong BATNAs and should walk away. However, negotiators to try to make a deal work by being deceptive in their intentions and limiting the information they share. The exercise reinforces the skills of planning and preparation, ethical sharing of information (what to share and when), identifying and using one’s BATNA strategically, making principled concessions, and setting resistance and aspirations points. It is best to use this exercise towards the middle of a negotiation course or workshop when participants understand the importance of interests but are also reluctant to end a negotiation with no deal. Roles : 2 Group Assignment : one on one

GThis is a dispute between a hospital and a software and hardware supplier. It is similar in structure to Rapid Printing vs. Scott Computers. It can also be used by management or law students alone or working in teams. It can be used to teach interests, rights, and power approaches to dispute resolution as well as advanced dispute resolution concepts like linked BATNAs and redirection of negotiations from rights or power to interests. Advice: There are no separate roles for advocates. You should give advocates copies of their principal’s role, unless you wish to combine this exercise with working with a client, in which case only give principals’ their roles.About3 Party CoalitionJohn SmithSourceNEGOTIATIONTWO-PARTYDEAL MAKINGMULTI ISSUEPrice$4Exercise Length45mNumber of Roles2Prep Time:LibraryMY PUBLICATIONSPREMIUMSOURCESSEE MOREWho is using itUsed 269 timesMike MintsEddie LobanovskiyDan CederholmSony laptops are among the most well known laptops on today’s market.
